Media Production
Fellows created a variety of media products including websites, digital storytelling products, podcasts and photo collages using iPad apps. Media production helped them to build interesting products. This helped in creating a sense of technological self efficacy. This increased confidence and allowed them to branch out on their own and learn new things. We promote differentiation in the use of technology. We know that different schools, teachers, and countries have different needs, infrastructure and challenges. Our goal was to allow the Fellows to do interesting things as a group, and then branch out to other things that met their specific needs. One way we did that was through the introduction of tools such as Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), Open Educational Resources (OERs) and Web 2.0 tools. The fellows were given access to the website: http://oertools.weebly.com and given the challenge of finding tools and resources that would be specific to their needs. But before they did that, they needed to develop some skills. We tried to combine their interests with some technologies.
TEA Fellow have a renowned interest in taking pictures. Our Fellows also wanted to learn to create interesting presentations. We tried to combine the interest in documenting their trip and creating products. While Fellows created products, we kept reminding them that their students should be able to create them too. Again, our focus is to get the technology out of the teacher's hands and into the students' hands. Some examples of media created by TEA Fellows appears below.

An example of a TEA Fellow Product using images and music. Fellows used PhotoStory 3, a free product, to create the slide shows.
Most Fellows uploaded their videos to our Learning Management System, http://edmodo.com. But others uploaded them to their personal YouTube accounts, as in the example below.

In this example, a TEA Fellow combined music and voice over audio.
Fellows also worked with digital audio to create Podcasts. We used the free multitrack audio software Audacity. Fellows learned to download music and mix background music with their voice. Each Fellow made a short introduction to their home town or country. The example below is an audio file with background music and voice over audio.
